A mobile Web site is one that has been specifically designed
to run on a mobile Web, or WAP browser. The most common device
used to view WAP sites is a mobile phone. The www.diylegals.com.au
Web site is Wireless
Enabled which means that you can access it
through your mobile phone.
The following image shows how our site would look on a
Nokia 6270 mobile phone.

The URL to access the WAp version of our site is is
...
http://wap.diylegals.com.au
Of course the visual experience of the mobile site is not
expected to be in the same class as viewing the site through a
regular browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Some of the main differences you can
expect to see between our regular site (access via
http://www.DIYlegals.com.au )
and our mobile WAP site include the following:
 |
The mobile site has screen
resolutions more in the order of 120
pixels wide, whereas the regular site viewed on
your desktop or laptop computer is in the order of
approximately 1024 pixels wide. Therefore, because
of this huge difference, changes have to be made
for the WAP site to be viewable. |
 |
Because of this width constraint
menus are placed at the top of pages, and they need
to flow vertically and not horizontally. |
 |
Images are a great problem and can be miniaturised
or even not used at all. Not using
images means cheaper and faster Internet
connections for mobile phone viewers, and we have
chosen to go down that road with our
DIYlegals.com.au site. |
 |
On a mobile site it is important that
clarity and speed are key
componets. This means that all the nice colours and
fancy design of the regular site will not be found
on the mobile site. |
